long time gone

it's been a while since i've written, which maybe not coincidentally is to say that it'e been a while since i've done some running. i took some time off this past month to curtail some tendonitis in my right posterior tibialis underneath my navicular, and the strategy seems to be paying off. i haven't felt pain recently, and i've been doing ankle strenghtening exercises to get it into better shape. lately, it's been lazy-day 5k running for me, and it feels good.

i look back at last year, and i see a man possessed with a dream. i see a boy trying to cope with loss. i see a runner in love with his pursuit. and what a wild ride that was. it was a memorable year, indeed.

now i'm refocusing, wanting to run--run strong--but with more poise and less madness. right now, all i really want to do is just do dailies without much care for a training plan. it feels nothing short of what it feels like to turn around after a year of watching shadows be thrown upon the cave wall in the form of a chronograph.

in the meanwhile, some other fleeting thoughts:

- happy birthday, OHF. oh, how the miles slip by.
- i finally scored my boston marathon game for $15 on ebay! this is SO SWEET you don't understand. you ought to come over and check it out.
- i had a dream last night that i was running the back half of the freescale marathon with a baggy pair of jeans on, and that i just missed going sub-3. i can only imagine that this can be interpreted as either (a) there's some weight on my back that's holding me back from achieving more, or (b) i need to start wearing baggy jeans when i run, because i was flying last night... you should have seen it!
