oak hill flyer: out of the rain
on the first part of the journey
i was looking at all the life
there were plants and birds and rocks and things
there was sand and hills and rings
i've said that the past two years have been a complete loss, and that's simply not true. there was the relay, cap10, prairieman and the like, but for every day of sunshine there was (at least... no, defintitely more than) one day of rain. i jacked my knee this summer with high mileage and after four months, there are still echoes of pain.
the first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
and the sky with no clouds
the heat was hot and the ground was dry
but the air was full of sound
i've been doing my core work, my swimming, waiting patiently for deliverance. i've even set aside all of my running pride and mounted a bike. tomorrow keeps feeling like another day of not running for which i didn't wish, and that's one tomorrow too long.
i've been through the desert on a horse with no name
it felt good to be out of the rain
in the desert you can remember your name
'cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
365 days from today, it is with my fullest intention to be in the waters of arizona when the horn blows. the ends will justify the means; under the desert there lies a sea.

11/21/10: tomorrow begins today.
