business in the boroughs
whether i've said this on OHF before or not, those who know me know that i've said this phrase more than once: there's no greater motivator than unfinished business.
paula wins nyc. i called it around mile 25.5. as she was dueling it out with chepkemei, there was only one thought in my mind: there is no way in hell that i would want to be chepkemei at that point and time. running beside radcliffe in central park would have felt like standing between a mamma bear and her baby cub. radcliffe, on the other hand, must have felt simply undeniable, given the place she was in 3 months ago versus the place that she found herself the next morning.
as far as i could see in the press coverage, paula didn't have the problems these past few weeks that she had leading up to athens this summer. training logs don't lie. my hats off to an amazing performance this morning.

meb proved amazing once again for the americans. by god, i really think he is the real deal, and he's going to bag one of these high profile marathons in the next 2-3 years. to place in the oppresively hot climbs of athens AND the flatter, faster race of the boroughs shows a awesome spectrum of ability that paydirt cannot deny for much longer. he's worth getting excited over.
